GREEN CONSTRUCTION LEED®
Lighter weight Metal Stud Crete® panels when compared to conventional precast or tilt-up concrete panels may contribute toward achieving additional LEED points affecting a higher certification level.

Materials and Resources

  • Recycled Content MR 4.0 Steel studs, MSC connectors and reinforcing mesh contain between 30.47% and 80% recycled content, 23.5% to 30% post consumer scrap, 6.4% to 70% pre consumer scrap (depending on the steel manufacturer). Concrete may contain fly ash when required
  • Regional Materials MR 5.0
    Locally extracted materials, manufactured
within 500 miles of any project in the USA.
  • Energy & Atmosphere EA 1
    Optimize energy performance

Innovation and Design Process
May contribute towards achieving an Innovation in Design credit by:

  • Conserving resources in manufacturing
  • Reducing materials in the structure
  • Reducing CO2 emissions in manufacturing
  • Reducing environmental impacts of transportation
  • Durable, low maintenance
MATERIALS & RESOURCES

Galvanized light gauge steel studs and MSC connectors have a high recycled materials content.

Regionally manufactured and locally extracted materials.
INNOVATION & DESIGN PROCESS

Thin concrete decreases carbon dioxide emissions by 65%.  Lighter weight composite panels conserve resources by reducing the volume of materials required in manufacturing and in the building's foundation and super structure.

Shipping double the number of panels per load decreases the environmental impacts of transportation by 50%.
